One of the outstanding mysteries of the Universe is how supermassive black holes formed so quickly after the Big Bang and grew to the enormous masses we see today. It's believed that the first stars were limited in mass because powerful stellar winds could blow away material once they got too big. But what if the first stars could actually grow to thousands and maybe even tens of thousands of times the mass of the Sun?
