Gaia Might Even be Able to Detect the Gravitational Wave Background of the Universe
ESA's Gaia mission has already made a tremendous impact on astronomy, calculating the position of over a billion stars, the motions of hundreds of millions. It's set to find thousands of planets, white dwarfs, neutron stars, and more. But astronomers have come up with a clever way that Gaia might be able to search for the background gravitational waves of the cosmos, the ongoing froth of colliding black holes, and other catastrophic events across the entire Universe.
