Glycine Can Form In Interstellar Clouds
All life on Earth is made up of basic chemical building blocks called amino acids. It was originally believed that these amino acids needed to form in warm, wet, chemically rich environments like the early Earth. But astronomers are finding more and more examples of amino acids just forming in space itself, on comets, and even in interstellar clouds. Researchers were able to simulate the conditions of interstellar clouds and form an amino acid called glycine.
