We know of thousands of exoplanets, but a big question remains: are there intelligent civilizations on any of them? A new search is underway to scan planets for evidence of technosignatures, the impact that advanced civilizations might have on their planet and star system. Specifically, astronomers will be searching for solar panels, which should give off a very specific heat signature, as well as industrial pollution, like chlorofluorocarbons which could be present in their atmosphere.
